I get where you’re coming from, and frankly, I share the skepticism. The push for 46mm bands—especially tied to smartwatches—feels more like accommodating oversized tech rather than a nod to the heritage of wristwatch design. If we’re honest, the true luxury is still found in precision, materials, and finishing, not in sheer size or gimmicky “innovation.”
On wrist, these larger bands rarely outperform the fit and feel of traditional straps from established maisons. In fact, comfort often takes a hit unless you have a bigger wrist. As for style, slapping a mass-market digital band on a watch that’s trying to ride both sides does little for the status, and might even hurt it among serious collectors.
Genuine innovatoin should respect the past even as it looks forward—lately, it seems brands are blurring the line just to capture wider demographics, not becuase they’re adding true value.
